Not Given Up Yet!

how running, cycling and swimming is helping me avoid infirmity for a bit longer

I’m Neil, I’m 48. Ex serious smoker, who decided that enough was enough, and it was either die young, missing magical things like my children’s weddings and grandchildren, or change my lifestyle┬áradically.

Now, I’m a veteran of 3 Ironmans, quite a lot of other tri’s of various distances, many running events, including marathons, a bag full of half marathons, and most other distances along the way!

I’m not fast, not even mildly quick by many people’s standards

So, why am I writing this?

Well, I couldn’t find much out there for people like me, who aren’t spring chickens, and are probably never going to set the world on fire either, but still want to try hard, and enjoy it.

I also want to encourage as many people as I can to give it a go, by de-mystifying the whole thing a little, and helping other pluck up the courage to give it a go.

It has been life changing for me. i’d like others to experience that joy!

Secondly, I like to talk. A lot. Ask anyone who knows me. If you can get a word in edgeways. So why not talk via a blog too.

And last, but not least, my journey has only just started. As I say on my Twitter bio, I plan on doing an Ironman for my 100th birthday.

Hope you’ll join me.
